Just pull up the plastic centre console part that is round the handbrake lever, its only held down with clips, you will then see the adjuster for the handbrake cable. Just push the centre consol down firmly to replace it once done.

Just make sure that the rear brakes are working correctly before tightening up the cable - ie do both actuating levers return to their stops when the handbrake is off? One thing that will normally let you know is all is possibly okay is, when you remove the cover for the adjustment and apply the handbrake, is the equalising yoke lying across the line of the car or is it biased down to one side? If its biased to one side then I'd say that you need to look at the calliper handbrake actuating levers as one will probably be not returning when the handbrake is off (look for the "fit return springs" advice in some other threads).

Of course if you have rear drum brakes and find that the equaliser is biased to one side, then I'd reckon that you need to get the drums off and sort the levers out and get the auto adjustment to start working again as by shortening the cable you are only covering up another fault - and shortening the cables might make you feel like you sorted it but you will only have bodged it.
