How are the 5000k bulbs joe?

Well basically, fitted one next to the standard bulb and found the light output was actually worse than the phillips.. Looked almost the same too. Put it down to the fact they were cheaper and less quality than the phillips. Went for 6ks instead ( althoguh they sent me 8ks while i was away so having to send those back again )

Fitted the 17mm spacers on the rear- looks MUCH better and the wheels fill the arches perfectly without any scrubbing! I also was prett pi**ed off to find a dent in the rear quater panel near the rear window- was caused for sure while i was away- most unimpressed . Ah and had condensation in my headlight so now the insides are smeared.. lovely.

Going to do a big cleanyourcar order this week in time for show season, Brought Gregs BBS centre caps aswell today so they should arrive soon Will be uprading to the semi-top version of VAGcom (HEX ande CANBUS) soon also:). MOT is in July so i NEED to address this air bag light fault aswell otherwise it'll fail.

What are you getting from cleanyourcar dude? I'm obsessed with detailing now. Mine needs doing in the next few weeks. Going to do a big write up for it.

Hmmm, need 2 cutting pads and 2 polishing ( yes, my paint work is THAT bad!) Maybe will treat myself to a snow foam kit and a large microfibre drying towell which are actually amazing. My mate has one and its just insane how good it is at drying the car! Probably end up spending 100 quid again- always seems to be the way

Detailing is a bug though! but there is nothing like a deep shiny black Gti in the sunlight Have you tried poorboys black hole Chris?

Yep i blame tim for my whole obsession lol! It took me a while to get a really nice finish on abit of paintwork. I've done 3 cars since getting my polisher and have got the hang of it - kinda. My main problem was lack of patience and not rubbing the polish in enough therefore not allowing it to break down fully. Nowadays i set aside an hour to do a door or tailgate etc.

Mezerna is great stuff to use! i started with poorboys but have jumped ship recentely..

Main selling point for me is that the software is stored on the cable hardware itself so there is no limits to how many computers you have it on.. Plus its better in the long term when i move onto newer Vag

in all honestly i'm surprised alot of guys don't upgrade to the full version, you can do so much more with it and in the grand scheme of things its not an expensive mod

Indeed. Its not so much the software - its the license. The software is still downloaded from ross-tech.com

Okay so after removing the airbag ( forgot how much of a pain it is!) i inspected my airbag and wiring relating to my 'Drivers side ignitor- resistance too high' fault.

I noticed some black electrical tape surrounding the main plug... is this normal?









Any help on which direction to take next will be very much appreciated! Im thinking doing a circuit test on the yellow wire?

The resistor wiring on the slip ring is damaged.

The best thing you can do is buy a new slip ring and swap it over and once the resistors are damaged they are very difficult to repair succesfully

Is the slip ring that the bit which the yellow plug goes into? To replace do you have to undo the bolts pictured and then the unit comes out as one?
