Saloon rear lights

Post by metz »

hey guys,

does anyone know if you can get different rear lights for the mk3 saloon?
ie:- smoked clear or just different.

i havent really looked yet but i wondered if the mk1 golf lights were the same?

I don't think theres much for the saloon. Not sure whether you could get away with Golf Mark 1 lights though. It might have to be a DIY tinting job.

yea thats what i thought too, atleast i can sort the front end out.
I bet i will be struggling with the bumper skirts too on the rear.

How much did it cost you for the bumpers to be sprayed m8?

I want mine doing too but its metalic so you can bet it bumps the price up a bit.

I was looking at 100 quid a bumper. What the general concensus of oppinion amongst bodyshops seems to be: that the bumpers are a swine to sand down, so they use high build primer, and then paint it. Don't accept excuses that it can't be done (one place near me told me that, but I got the impression they just couldn't be bothered). Alternatively you can buy pre sanded and primed bumpers from VAG parts, but I think they're quite hefty price wise.

thanx for the info karl,

are you attending the midlands meet on sunday? as i wouldn't mind taking a look at ur bumpers as they look mint in the pics.

the saloon rear bumper is longer down the sides of the car to allow for the boot (if u get what i mean) so i dont think i would be able to get aftermarket bumpers so the only option is to have the originals sprayed.

I would love to go to meets and stuff, but the awful predicament I'm in is that I have the car, and can't yet (legally) drive it, coz I still have to pass my test, and arrange affordable insurance, (got quoted 2800 once!) Who knows, I might start touring next year, but thats probably a bit too late for you to see the job.

oh right..didn't realise you hadn't passed, sorry for reminding you m8 :(

I only passed in march this year, this is my first "legal" car....and i gotta admit it feels great to be able to go where u want when u want.

good luck with the lessons, and dont pack em in if u fail "like i did" cos its well worth the hassle.

Ahh, don't worry about it, its giving me something to work towards, so I can go out on meets, and just generally gain some independance. Hope you get your bumpers sorted ok (I had a few hitches with mine!), and hope the rear lights can be sorted.
