Annoying rattling noise

Post by B1N9S »

I have a 1.2 TSI. It has been lowered with H&R 25/40 springs, after a week or two the front O/S shock gave up the ghost. Now I have a strange rattling noise coming through the bulkhead, more noticeable at low speeds, when coming to a standstill. Anyone experienced the same or similar ?

Annoying rattling noise

This is most likely the issue with the a/c and/or fuel lines vibrating against the chassis. There is a fix here in oz that dealers do for it, make an enquiry at your dealership, they should know about it:)

It could possibly be the top mounts of the dampers that just need tightening after being changed.

GAVS,
Do you know what fix the dealers over there do, to combat this problem. I think you could be right as the noise seems to come from the bottom of the engine bay. If it is something simple, I will probably just DIY it, rather than mess about with the dealers.
Thanks

The first way was very ghetto in that the dealer would just slightly bend the lines out of the way a bit more but I believe the proper fix now is that they install a suplementary bracket for the lines that holds them off the chassis in the arear that they generally rattle. Basically, the dealer puts the car on the hoist, unwraps the braket, screws it in place into the chassis, mounts the lines, tightens bracket and it's done...

My car had a ratling issue, (its a 1.4 SE) espcially after a long drive where the engine was warm. Whn i took it in to the garage on a seperate issue they also did a recall under the code 97u9 and now the car doesnt make the rallting sound anymore, what ever they did fixed it :D

I believe due to the different engine there are no afflictions on the GTI........yet..... If you do get the rattle, it's generally there from brand new anyway so if you haven't noticed it yet, you probably won't get it:)
