Newbie and some advice

Post by Bam.Bam »

Hey every one, I thought, as the newbie and as I've been reading everyone’s threads and loving everyone’s individuality and touches to the cars, I would love some advice on my new baby.

I've had my 1.6 polo for about a month and I’m itching to put my unique touches to mine. I got her for a really good price and amazingly low mileage. But the other day driving back through Derbyshire on a hairpin turn I slightly over shot it where my old fiesta would have easily handled it. I do blame the crap tires and maybe the fact that it was late and the temperature had dropped. Never the less the stock 16” alloys didn’t come out of it well, will post some pictures.

It hurts every time i look at them :(

What modifications would you recommend doing first?

I’m trying to sort out cruise control with MODDED9N in the next few weeks which is much needed as I do frequent motorway miles, he comes very highly recommended and a very competitive price. :)

What alloys would you recommend and what tires would you recommend for best in handelling/road noise/ enduring?

I quite like these;

momo strike matt grey

Image
OZ Adrenalina diamond cut

Image
Dotz Tounge matt- without the yellow strip!

Image
OZ Wave black polished

Image
Momo Win Black

Samurai SC02

What do you guys think?

Welcome bro.... Until i saw matt_123s car, new knew they made a 1.6! Well I quite like those stocks but too be honest, you need to change your alloys! I can't pick from that selection because they are all bloody nice! But I think it is out of 1,4 and 5 for me even though the DOTZ are nice!

Hey will
Thanks for the comment. I’m still not closer to make a decision, really like the stock gti 17” alloys but don’t know where to get them or how much they are. any ideas? I really like the samurai and the momo win blacks. I don’t want to be too much of a rude-boy haha

The stock GTi's appear in the for sale section every now and then, keep an eye out - they really do look the dogs! Although the OZ Wave's look very nice and fairly similar, they'll go well with your car colour!

momo are the same size. Any ideas of how easy is it to paint the brake calipers? Want to give them a nice black look.

Im on 16" monzas but mine dont seem to fit the whell arches properly becasue its lowered :(

Like the gap between the tyre and the wheel arch is not equal all the way around, yours look like they are.

How low is yours mate? What size tyers you running?

Was thinking about going to 17", but if I could get mine looking like yours I wouldnt bother and just get mine powdercoated
