2007 Polo GTI Steering fault! Help!

Good afternoon,

Friends of mine have a 2007 Polo GTI and randomley the power steering has packed up on it, there is power to the pump, no lights on the dash and no fault codes when plugged into a VAGCOM.

Just wondered if anyone has experienced this problem before??

I believe it is an electric rack on it??

They are at a loose end, and have not been able to drive it for a couple of weeks now!

Any help much appreciated!
