312mm Calipers for GTI

Hi Guys,

Ive got a set of 312mm calipers and carriers which i took off my old 9n3 gti, going to fit them to my new gti. Only thing is, there a crappy red colour so i wanna refurb them best i can before putting them on. Does anyone have any good suggestions / ideas how to strip the old paint off without damaging the seals, etc. And also, whats the best paint colour match too the original red used on the standard calipers. Any ideas / help would be much appriciated Cheers Nathan

You could strip the callipers pistons and seals then strip the paint.

Then you will be able to do a top notch job painting the calliper halves. Then buy a seal kit and rebuild them.

With a new set of performance pads you'd have a bran new set of brake basically.

Not sure about the colour match.

Yes was thinking that myself pal, just really want to find a good colour match. When i had them on my old gti, they where a million miles out on shade difference and looked abit daft imo. Im a bit ocd on how my car looks lol

You could just hit them with a steam claener and wire brush, give a spray over with prepsol and just repaint the lot, just mask up the rubber bits and sliders and it should be all cool, then you can pick exactly what colour you want, maybe even R blue / black.....
