Touch screen head unit (sat nav built in) that looks good???

Post by MODDED9N »

As title suggests, looking for a head unit with built in sat nav. Already got the sat nav wiring in place as have that crappy optional extra sat nav which gives u directions on that tiny screen on the instrument cluster. One on beijing polos is nice:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Philips-Car-Audio ... 3a681178a5

But only available in China so have to pay those ridiculous postage prices for 25-40 day delivery. Would go oem but the only one that fits is that MFD one which has a screen smaller than the one on my iphone and looks ugly.

Any comments appreciated. Thanks

Well every head unit I have seen of a similar spec to that one has been around that price! I like that one you just showed me so I think it is between that one and the one I posted!

+1 for the Pioneers, they can change their LED colours to match the familiar blue Polo interior dash lighting :)

I have the 3300BT but I have not got the Sat Nav module for it yet

Thanks BennoGTi! I saw that on a review video this morning and I was like 'OOOOOOooooOOOOO'.... They have make a slightly knew version called the Pioneer AVIC-F920BT/X920BT (Can be called either/or) and I think it has a slightly bigger screen and doesnt have that massive volume adjustment knob on the front which is nice! Looks like this:

Think this is the one for me! Also this head unit allows you to rapid stream music from your iphone to the head unit via bluetooth and play it through the speakers so no bodge wires! Just gotta get the funds then I am getting one!

Fascia and cage comes with the unit, you just need an ISO cable and the Aerial converter, cost me £16 delivered for both from http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/

Just give them a ring, I ordered mine over the phone, just tell them your car and head unit, they will sort the cables :)

I've got the Pioneer F920BT (the X920BT is what the Americans call it). Good bit of kit IMO, I also got the ipod lead for it because I didn't really want to use the bluetooth option. The only thing that I don't like about it is the volume buttons, using them isn't a problem but I'd prefer a knob to be honest. The F930BT has the volume knob, a detachable button plate and thats basically it. Think the software on it is slightly newer but it looks the same in photos to me.

It comes with its own GPS aerial so you may need an adapter if you have the VW aerial fitted.

Comes with a fitting kit that slots straight into the dash - you only need a CANBUS adapter and an aerial adapter. You can get a switched live from somewhere else but it isn't really worth it because you need a speed pulse for the navigation which you can't get without the adapter. Google is full of stuff about how you need to wire it up in a special way to let you use all the functions whilst the car is in motion. This is not an issue in Europe, there's a setting called 'Safe Mode' that needs turning off and then there's no problems.
