iPod cable

Post by craig200588 »

I have the SE model Polo, so it doesn't have the iPod cable thing in the glove box. I was on VW's site and came across these, which one would I need?

or

Ones £208 and the others £20 .... so im totally confused!

Unfortunately you still need the mdi box in the glove box to use the mdi cable but the mdi box is easy to install and i think you can pick them up for about £150 or less but dont quote me on that.
you can still use the aux cable but you have to control it through the ipod/mp3player rather than the head unit.
I think you need to have the mdi coded by vagcom but shouldnt be too much.

Does the first solution offer full iPod control from the head unit? Or is it still the 6 playlist thingy like the £20 option?

Don't get me wrong it's handy like I can skip songs in the playlist and fast forward/rewind set it to shuffle and that's about it.

I just have 6 playlist off different music genres, Indie Emo Hip hop Etc then dhole all songs into em and
Set it to shuffle.

I have an SEL so it comes with the I-Pod adapter and the USB. I find the USB one is far better. Just load up a cheapo memory stick(I have 8gig) with all my tunes and stick it in. Radio see's folders and tracks. £35 and its sorted. Assuming you already have socket in glove box.
