Depends who you're challenging and where you do it.
Never done it myself (honestly!*) but i daresay to critisize it like that when you may have two fairly skilled drivers up against each other in similar cars facing up a 1/4 mile of deserted inner city dual carriageway is to diss the entire sport of drag racing as practiced by people down at santa pod
(ok, ok, 1.2 litre polo not so comparable to a top fuel dragster, but there's still skill to be had)
* my "racing" is mostly me running the 1-litre ragged trying to overtake people on a motorway dash, or holding on for dear life down the A5 at all of 50-75mph

Out of interest why shouldn't a Lupo be able to beat a polo? Same brand, similar engines (i don't know much so please don't throw things at me) and it's lighter.StevePolo wrote:..... in a Lupo just tried to race me at the traffic lights, he had no chance ha ha![]()

I take it you never used to go southend then KarlM ? LOLKarlM wrote:*Uk-polos does not condone street racing*
besides. traffic light grand prix arent proper races. no skill involved.
get yourselves on a track
The definition of 'Street Racing' came from there . . :¬P
The amount of proper all over the road races ive been involved with there is silly, and im not just talking 2 or 3 cars, im talking about 6 cars having it up properly with no rules otehr than you cant hit other cars haha
Might have to dig out an old tape of Basildon cruise (where everyone goes after southend gets quiet at weekend)
its a riot ! one night i taped this car park with about 15 cars all doing burnouts and handbrakes at the saem time, utter madness !

Re: Some Muppet....
If I remember what i saw of the performance figures they weren't too impressive for the stock cars. Most of 'em were probably 1.0, too. What's your engine again, steve?SiDaBa wrote: Out of interest why shouldn't a Lupo be able to beat a polo? (plus it may be smaller, but cars seem to be a bit more "dense" than they were late 80s thru to early/mid 90s)
And driver skill counts for a lot. Assuming both cars had comparable performance (say a 1.0 weighing 800kg all up with fuel and driver vs a 1.2 weighing 960kg...
What, you expect a race-hunting chav to know how to drive?
