vw rns 510 ??????
any one got an rns 510,in there polo ,i am thinking of getting one off ebay,i am unsure of a couple of things.
1-- does the v7 maps have speed camera on them ,if they do when you are near a speed camera doe the stereo bleep or make a noise.
2--does it have poi.(points of interest )
3--i have polo sel dsg with the ipod connector in the glove box ,does this still work on the rns510.
4-- i also have the steering wheel control does this still work with rns 510.

I've got the Moda with a RCD310, but without the Multi-function steering wheel or Multifunction computer.
Would the RNS510 be plug & play with everything working or would i need anything else?

Bear in mind that the speed cameras (when loaded) only display visually via a small icon next to the road. There is no large graphic warning you or audio bleeps etc.

Re: vw rns 510 ??????
just had my rns 510 fitted today ,but i got a real bargain.
when i rung up vw dealer in wigan last week i was quoted £40.00 to have rns 510 fitted,i asked the woman when i rung up would it take long she said 1/2 hour. ok i said book it in.any way took car in for 1pm today, at 3pm i came out, apparently they had to program it in ,but because i was quoted £40.00, i saved £110.00 it should of been £150.00,what a shame,i was chuffed bits. and rns 510 works fine.

You sure about the programming mate? :/
I fitted mine myself (not a professional...at all xD), took about 10 minutes, you had to do was remove the fascia plate, unscrew the old one and fit the new one in!

So there no other cables to fit? No antennae to make the sat-nav work?Zstar wrote:You sure about the programming mate? :/

Re: vw rns 510 ??????
You get/or should buy a GPS antenna with the unit (i bought mine seperate for £6 eBay).
Its magnetic and when you take your old unit out, there's a metal bar in a vertical position on the right side of the cage, just stick the antenna on here and push it up as far as you can!
That's what i did and i have min. 4 satellites connected, perfect navigation!
No messing around with wiring required at all

Re: vw rns 510 ??????
Good information, thanks.
Is it any good as a satnav though? Can you still only put in the first 5 digits of a postcode?
