New member requires help!

Hi, new member here - a soon-to-be owner of a new Polo maybe?!

Basically, I'm looking to replace my current car and the new Polo seems to fit the bill. My dad has one and I absolutely love it. Now I want my own
Problem is, I have no idea at what prices I should be aiming at. Apart from the retail prices posted on the official site I've no idea how much discount(if any) I should try and get etc. I'm a fairly young driver and tbh - quite stingy as money isn't flowing and I'd hate to sign on the dotted line to find I've been had or could of got a better deal a few days later. Basically I would like to get the highest spec/most options, parting away with the least amount of cash ( Who doesn't?! ).
I've had a look at car broker sites online (drivethedeal etc) but am wary of buying online, doubts whether its legit etc. Can anyone offer their views on this or have any experience?
FYI - my dad has an entry level Polo, me being an image conscientious youngling would prefer a higher spec (alloys?). How much Polo can I expect to get for around £14000? (My budget).
I've also noticed VW have an offer of free insurance for a year bungled along with the 3 year free servicing now which makes the prospect of owning a Polo all the more alluring...

Mate am 18. I own a 2011 polo moda 70ps. A got it for about 11000. But got huge discount coz my mate works at Vw. Am paying 210 a month and was looking for 1.2 tsi for 280 a month but could not afford it. But looks like u may be able to.

Ps how old are u coz ya gota be 21 for te years insurence. A couldn't get it not Evan any discount off man

Hi mate,

Given your situation I'd advise you to have a look at a Polo Match 1.4. My situation was similar to yours a few years back before I got my current Polo. I had a Polo Match 1.2 70ps, which came well specced with alloys, AC, rear tinted glass and a few other extras which were nice.

The only downside was the lack of power, with it being 70ps it wasn't possible to go wild so I'd say pay the extra and go for the 1.4. The 1.2's need thrashing all the time and your MPG ends up pretty gash. For your budget you'd be able to get a Polo Match

Gotta be the 1.2 tsi i test drove one before the gti and there rapid for what they are. Great build quality etc etc as to be expected.

If your budget can stretch to a 1.2 TSI then go for a test drive in one and the car will honestly do the talking (it did for me!) Unfortunately the TSI is only available in the SEL model though, which does have a nice list of standard extras You might want to have a gander at insurance quotes beforehand to see which also fits your budget.

I picked up a TSi SEL in reflex silver, inc 3 years service plan, should have been £16519 paid cash and after a bit of haggling did a deal at £15,000...

Best advice is shop around, some dealers wouldn't offer any discount at all even for cash. In the end I got the deal and car I wanted in just under two weeks, car was still on it's way when I ordered it. Oh pick a car they eithet have in stock or is on it's way..

Oh free years insurance too, think that offer is still on...

If you can afford it go for the 1.2 TSI. What a fantastic little car, with a fantastic little engine. I bought mine 2nd hand with 800 miles on the clock for £12750 !! And I love driving it. It reminds me so much of a MK2 Golf Gti, which are awesome.

Why not get a personal loan rather than a crap finance deal from a dealer. You will have far superior buying power with cash. I would get an insurance quote first though, as anything with an "i" in the title tends to attract a premium !!

Aye, there are some advantages to becoming a wrinkly old bstard !!!

Mate am 18 and own a 1.2 moda. A can't Evan afford the 1.4 or tsi. How the fook can u afford tha gti. What insurence u with as well as I am with Quinn and is 1500 on mine
