Hmm..Perhaps they are only for the bluemotion models then as they have DRLs in the fogs rather than using the dipped deams.

I now have my GTI but no user manual yet!

Is it easy to change the main headlight bulbs? Will it be obvious what to do once I look under the bonnet?

Yeah mate, so easy to change. Theres two torx screws on top of the headlight holding it in place. Remove these, unplug the power supply plug on the back of the headlamp, and pull the headlight out towards you. Theres then a little metal clip holding the bulb in position. Just twist this and the bulb will come out. Takes about 5 mins a headlight takin your time :-)

No, I can't do it

I can't get the headlight unit out. I'm sure if I could see a picture in the manual it would be easy, but something underneath stops them from sliding out forwards.

Doesn't it say something like "press the bottom of the headlight out of the guides..."? Can someone explain that better?

Also, are the main bulbs H7? I bought H4 as that's what it said on Autobulbsdirect.com :(

Ok, brute force was all that was required.

Slightly off topic; has anyone found some really good road-legal blue/White H7 bulbs? The Philips BlueVision bulbs I bought look no different to the standard OEM bulbs, with a yellow tinge. I don't expect anything as pure White as the LEDs, but anything close would be great.

Looking to replace my sidelights with LED's. Has anyone installed any they'd highly recommend? Pics would also be good if handy :)

Cheers,

I hear people saying about having to drill holes in the rubber seals at the back of the lights, is this true when fitting a HID kit? :/

If you go with philips diamond vision, they will give a very blue spectrum white, very similar to the LED white. Just don't hope for any light penetration because blue spectrum light falls off dramatically quickly. Had them on the golf, all they were good for was reflecting off signs.

You have two options when fitting hids. You can leave the rubber caps off, or you cut like a 25 dia. Hole in thr back of each seal in order to thread the wires from the ballast to the bulb. However, on the wires is a big rubber grommet that then plugs into your cut-out creating a nice new seal. Never had any problems with my 4 hids ive fitted to my past cars. :D

A stab in the dark and I maybe wrong... But doesn't the Moda spec Polo use H4 bulbs rather than H7? That maybe why they don't fit?
