How long until engine is run in?

Just as the question says. I have had a search for this already and can't find the answer.
This Poko is still using oil but it has only done around 34000 miles.
Can someone tell me roughly how much longer before it starts to loosen up and stop burning oil? Please?

Probably not much help but... My old SE used to burn oil. She was on 80k when I had her.
However I've had a E and a GTI which are both fine with regards to using oil all with similar miles on the clock

Is it the engine? It is a 1.4 16v and I am wondering if the engine is like the Golfs, quite tight at new.
