Tyre size?

Hello I have polo 9n3 GTI wonder what tyre size would fit it i had 17 inch alloys?

would also be ok if i lowered it 20mm will it rub has anyone done this?

205-40-17 is best suited

I have 17inch GTi Monza alloys with 215/40/17 and it is lowered by 35mm on Apex and there is no rub whatsoever!

thank alot guys for response i was told 205/35/17 would be correct but if 205/40/17 is sweet then that it will be gonna save up get decent tyres gonna set me back £320 i'm guessing not the mention bushes and dampeners and springs

Definitely 205/40/17
