Removing dash air vents

Post by jamlid »

Hi all,

Could anyone give me some advice on how to remove the driver and passenger side heater vents please? I'm scared of just trying to lever them out incase this isn't how they come out and I break them! Are there any secret screws or clips, etc. I should know about? :)

Oh! Also, the strip on the clocks cover (the bit that is gloss black on gti's) can this strip separate from the main section? If so, is this just a case of levering it off?

Thanks!

Hi mate
The passanger vent has no screws, get a flat head wrap it with sum cloth so u dnt mark anything and just pry it out.
Drivers side does have a torx screw i belive just under the light switch, unscrew and do the same as other side.
The clock suround has no screws jus pry and pull upwards, carefull with that ad its only light plastic.
Hope this helps mate

Just to add to this, incase anyone with the same question comes across this thread..

To remove the driver's side, you need to unscrew a torx screw which is underneath the light switch area, then you need to push DOWN on the actual light switch control and turn it one click clockwise. It might feel like you're going to break it, but turn it hard, then it'll suddenly click and the light switch unit will pop out! There's another torx screw behind the switch, then the vent can come off!
