Re: Andrew's GTi*
Right, thought i may aswell put up a quick built thread for those that haven't seen my ClubPolo one, and i'm pretty bored with nothing else to do so here goes, Enjoy
Got the car about 4 months ago completely standard, had quite a good high spec and was just what i was looking for, W Reg Polo GTi with 95k on the clock, full leather, air con etc, all the usual GTi spec for £2.k, thought it was a fairly good deal and only 2 lady owners, the car was in fairly good condition with only the usual dings and dents here and there other than that the paintwork was in excellent nic.

Straight away after getting insured i lowered the car on some budget Jom Coilovers, the ride is bouncy but overall very good for only 200 quids worth, definatley recommend them to anyone on a budget.
Whacked them on with a mate and heres how it went

Leaving it sitting like this >

Then went onto doing the usual bits and bobs, de-wipering, red piping round the honey combe grill and blacking out both front and rear badges >

The interior i thought at the time was alright and was chuffed with the leather seats, even though looking back they do look quite shabby compared the ones i replaced them with,

Sprayed the interior door grab handles gloss black as they were flaking >

Gave the standard GTi alloys a clean up as they too were scrappy and corroded around the outer rim >

Dropped a K&N Pannel Filter in to replace the horrible old one which was covered in oil and crap >

And some UK Legal Pressed Metal Number plates from DubMiester!
Then sat like this for a while running well and fairly low:

My dad then came home with a silver Polo GTi one day which had absolutely mint interior, i offered him a swap of the seats plus some money ontop, he aggreed so we swapped the old leathers out of mine for some practically new leathers which i was over the moon about
Out they came giving me time for a good clean and hoover and the edition of the rear strut brace>

And the new leathers in :

I then acquired some Mk 5 Golf GTi headrests which sat fitted in nicely with the new seats and the rest of the car!

Old Seats vs. New Seats:

Bought some genuine VW black matts:

Interior is now mint and am very happy with it
Then sprayed all interior fixings such as rear few mirror, grab handles etc black:

Bought a nice new Apline Head unit to replace the old standard radio/cd player:

Audi TT Pedal Covers:

And Double Cup Holders to replace the rubbish coin tray which rattled when change got stuck behind it:

Next after looking for months came across a practically new set of Borbet T alloys 14" by 8J all round with brand new Falken Tyres 195,45 all round stretched on ready to go for what i thought was a bargain at £600
i had been looking for a set for ages as i knew from the start these were the wheels i wanted so got them on the car and fitted well at first

They went perfectly with the car and was sitting nice on the new wheels, really bringing everything together...
Although as they were quite wide and poking out a fair bit i had the arches rolled and pulled a tad which stopped most of the rubbing

Need to be lower and get some camber going all round which will be coming soon >

Moved onto the engine bay, gave it a good clean and decided to colour code everything red which looks great

Almost finished >

Gonna get some better photos once its all done but looks good for now

Wow looks really good man. New leathers look great.
I do the opposite, spend my time on this forum and visit clubpolo when I'm bored!!
Engine bay looks really tidy. Going to spray a few bits in mine over the winter months.
Look forward to more updates dude.

Finished Lacquering the top caps this evening and got them in looking smart
Got a few little photos just as it was getting dark because i was bored haha :L

Engine Bay is now almost finished, just wanting an R8 Oil cap to finish things off
But happy overall with how it looks and very clean!

Better photo of the rear badge now the backing plate is the same Diamond Black as the car >

Wheels got a little clean

Interior Shot after i gave the leathers a little clean and some treatment :p

Gave the TT Pedals a light sand down and clean up

Cheeky photo of the sub, love the little face that lights up at night haha :L

Re: Andrew's GTi*
Some good and bad updates, got myself a Momo team steering wheel 280mm with some bday money looks rather nice
By the WAY, removing the original VW steering wheel is a complete nightmare and we ended up sawing it off, the little clips behind were impossible to release!
But eventually got it fitted and it looks great, feels weird at first as it is tiny but really fun once you get used to it!

Finally sorted the rear camber out so no more scrubbing but the fronts i cannot seem to stop!

Can anyone assist me turning the air bag light off!???
Quick photo with dads golf

Then took the wheels off the other day to discover this on the fronts! TRACKING NEEDS DONE URGENTLEY!

Taking it down to the Phirm next week if i can get hold of some tyres which is proving difficult at the moment! 195/45/14s no one seems to stock!
