Steering Problems!!! HELP!!!

Hi im new to this,

My 1998 VW Polo 1.4cl has been playing up. I have had wheels balanced and all the rest etc. Well the obvious things i then noticed a big vibration when driving around town. I noticed i could pull my steering wheel down to the left when steering lock is on CAUSING MAJOR CONCERN i noticed that the steering column bracket had snapped on one side L(Side) i had this welded really well by a top mechanic and things were really good until the other day i noticed that steering wheel now has up and down play init again but not as half as severe only about a centremetre up and the same down. I dont think the bracket has snapped again as it all looks the same as it did post weld could there be any other reasons i.e column bushes or anything as im at my wits end with it now and hate the movement as it allows it movement like a vibration when driving. Any help on this would be really appreciated as im running out of patience

Pretty much impossible to diagnose over the internet!

Only way to go is to get underneath the car and behind the dash looking for the source of the play.

Cheers for the reply mate will try my best should be getting it looked at this weekend to source the problem hopefully something minor

will post back when have had it check,

any other ideas would still be really helpful
