Vagcom vcds hex canbus

I have a one week old polo and id like to change some settings to my preference, i.e. The odometer showing km's speed when moving and maybe some other minor things.

Can anyone tell me exactly what i need , i believe i need a hex lead to canbus spec and the software the run with it.

If somebody could give a brief explanation or recommend a supplier id be grateful.
Am currently looking at a coulpe of leads from ebay around the £50 mark.

Am used to old golfs so having a new polo is a bit of a learning curve lol
