Badges look cool but if i'm honest I do prefer the original ones, looks a little weird from the back with the Polo badge being there with the new "GTI" badge.

Deffo need to get yourself some pressed plates 8) essential on any GTI

The new style badges are awesome :D I love them! Something I'm glad I did :)

With regards to the old style badge... just debadge the 'Polo'. Sure, you'll get more "nice golf" comments but most GTI's now just say GTI rather than Polo GTI or Golf GTI so I feel it's fitting to remove it. Just my 2p though :)

I hate the new style gti, think it looks like an after market Halfords special. But then again it's personal choice and clearly you can't please every1 else, your car would look much better debadged... IMO

Maybe the all small red one might work, not sure....

deffinatly must be a personal preference marmite thing lol
ive never really been bothered by the different font thing...which is odd cos normally (with text in letters, webistes, ect) its something im really OCD with
hahaha its funny you should say that! halfords do do a GTI badge- but its a copy of the original badge :P , no sign of the new gti badge being producted yet ;)
deffinatly a person choice thing. I think it looks a lot cleaner and modern

haha maybe maybe. i know if i had any Id use the good ol' magnet trick to keep them on, so maybe

very good point. will think about removing polo. i suppose if i didnt like it i could always still a new badge back on.
i've just never been keen on debadging, but like you said most new VWs do come now with just the GTI rather then model name to, so it could still feel right.

11.2011 - Paintwork

For as long as Ive known this car he's had his paint defects, therefore its always been on my list of things to do to get the Front and Rear Bumper repsprayed as well as the bonnet (stone chipes urgh)
However money saving has gone no where, so I decided to attempt to repait the paint a bit (after all it looked so bad, it couldnt get much worse)

No where near the standards of Mr. Craig Barnard of course!! and I still really really need to get some respraying done.
But it looks a lot better then it did, and will do for now ;)

Front Bumper - After
painted and machine polished. deffinatly not perfect but looks better then it did. this was my first attempt and i was worried of going over the top

Rear Bumper - After
Took some time applying Layer after layer of Lacquer.
still needs to be lightly wet sanded it, and machine polised to blend it better
Sorry the photos not the clearest, just went out to take it now buts raining pretty heavy here atm.

Ive also dont the massive stonechip on my bonnet and a mark on the bumper strip around the drivers side of the rear bumper :)

Here, that's actually pretty good!! I'm no paint expert and to me that looks 100% Top Notch for a DIY effort! I got a couple of little defects on my own car that I could maybe sort with your methods.

BTW, glad my badge guide was of assistance ;)

Nobodys car is ever going to be perfect when used for everyday use but you have done a really good job touching up the nasty bits

Thank you :D I am really happy for the results, specially as like you said it was a diy jobbie, managed to get away with no runs, and the colour match came out pretty well. just took a long time of very very fine layers.

yes deffinatly came in useful!! probably would have sat scratching me head looking at the badge and looking at the grill otherwise lol

13.11.2011 - Bulbs

My little buy of the week. Been meaning to do this for forever
I've always hated that 'egg' look. And or such a tiny amount of money, they make a big difference to the cars looks 8)
