Post by M15RPD84 »

I have a 9N GT 130 TDI im looking to put 312mm discs on it. I have read that all i need to change is carriers and calipers off Mrk 1 TT is this correct? Has anyone got contacts where to source these parts. Thanks in advance Rob

You will need the hubs off of a fabia vRS or a polo GTI buddy!

288mm and 312mm calipers use the same pads. Calipers are either made by Lucas or ATE. The difference between the 288mm and 312mm setup is the carrier, so you can just get away by swapping just the carriers if you know what brand calipers you have and are lucky enough to find a cheap enough set of 312mm carriers of the same make. Easier said than done though - best to get a set of matching calipers and carriers of an appropriate car to be safe. Lucas carriers won't work with ATE calipers and vice-versa. Generally speaking, all cars of the Mk4 Golf era with the 180/225 1.8t (exception being Seats, often coming with exotic Brembo setups) - , 170bhp V5 and 200bhp V6 came with 312mm brakes.

And they'll fit any 9n/9n3/mk1 Fabia/mk4 Ibiza with the PD130 or 1.8t without having to change hubs.

Wire brush and a lick of paint, and job's a good 'un.

So if i get those calipers they will bolt straight on and all I would have to do is change discs. Rob

Hence why I said PD130...they've got the 288mm setup as standard.
