Hello everyone.
First post on here and looking forward to collecting my Candy White 60 reg Polo GTi tomorrow evening.
Have previously owned a Mk2 Golf Gti (16v), Mk5 Golf GTi Edition 30 so am looking forward to getting back into the world of VW again.
As soon as possible I'm going to be looking at getting a remap and potentially getting the wheels powder coated in black. Has anyone else done the latter yet? I think the wheels let the look of the car down a bit.

Welcome to the GTI club matey
Yeah always nice to see some piccys
Did you opt for any extras mate, and what are your plans?
Re: New Member
Will put some photos online when I pick it up tomorrow evening.
I think initial plans are for a remap (Revo still best I'm assuming?) and black wheels. I'd like new wheels but i think realistically I'll just get the standard ones powder-coated.
I haven't got the full spec to hand but it's a 3 door, has Sat Nav, daytime running lights (might want to disable them to be honest) and was registered in December 2010.

Finally picked it up tonight. Rubbish weather so just the one photo so far.
Going to look at getting some car mats pretty quickly. Can anyone recommend any decent places to get them from etc?
Re: New Member
Hi, looks cool, try genuine vw mats first, proper fit with the driver floor locators , straight black , and look factory. I dont think price is unreasonable either.

Cool. I was looking at some of the custom ones online and they look smart but not sure of the fit etc. Will check out how much the VW ones cost.Spcvw wrote:Hi, looks cool, try genuine vw mats first, proper fit with the driver floor locators , straight black , and look factory. When looking at re-maps, don't just put the blinkers on and go straight to Revo, many people do that here with APR.
There are many many companies out there now offering tunes, some are generic, off-the-shelf and then just loaded into your car's ECU, others are specifically mapped to what you want and the parameters put out of your cars paticular electronic systems. A list of some of the tuners out there doing tunes:
GIAC
APR
Viezu (Formerly Chipped UK)
Revo
DNA Tuning
BSR Tuning
ABT Tuning (Maybe, not sure if the do GTI)
UPSolute (never heard of them before)
Custom Code might also have a tune in the works but im not 100% sure.

Thanks for those. I had my last Cooper S remapped by Performance Torque in Wolverhampton and they did a very good job and after sale supports was bang on too.gavs wrote:When looking at re-maps, don't just put the blinkers on and go straight to Revo, many people do that here with APR.

It's back in with the dealer already though because they couldn't code the Nav/Multimedia system to the car apparently.

I noticed your gti on autotrader I guess you bought from a seat dealer their photos show the sat nav hanging out with trim missing so I expect they knew it wasn't working the whole car looked a bit odd

Re: New Member
Yes, that's the one. It was in when i drove the car initially and appeared to be working. Seems odd but they don't know why it would have been changed out or anything. No signs of breaking into it etc either.daydotz wrote:I noticed your gti on autotrader I guess you bought from a seat dealer their photos show the sat nav hanging out with trim missing so I expect they knew it wasn't working the whole car looked a bit odd
Re: New Member
Hmm it now looks like they've replaced the system with an RCD 510 instead of the RNS 310 pictured in the above photo. The AUX input also doesn't work and there's no option to enable it in the menus either.
Back to the dealers again tomorrow I reckon!
Can someone just confirm the device above is the RNS 310 (Sat Nav) for me please??

I guess they thought they would make a few quid selling the sat nav or it was broken or missing the disc as far as I'm aware any unit is linked to the car via vagcom theirs no code as such it's a 2min job to activate the headunit but it sounds if something else isn't quite right does the cd/radio mfd in the glovebox work or are you missing the iPod/USB cable did you not get the standard red trimmed mats with the car ?adzmofo wrote:Hmm it now looks like they've replaced the system with an RCD 510 instead of the RNS 310 pictured in the above photo. Re: New Member
Yeah, but thing is the dealer i bought it from (Bristol St Seat) has just handed it to the VW dealer next door to them to fix the Nav. They've been told a new one has been ordered and put in (still unsure about why it took so many attempts to do this bit) because the old one was broken so they're none the wiser AFAIK. I don't have the MDI lead to test the socket in the glove box but i thought you had to purchase them from VW separately anyway?daydotz wrote:I guess they thought they would make a few quid selling the sat nav or it was broken or missing the disc as far as I'm aware any unit is linked to the car via vagcom theirs no code as such it's a 2min job to activate the headunit but it sounds if something else isn't quite right does the cd/radio mfd in the glovebox work or are you missing the iPod/USB cable did you not get the standard red trimmed mats with the car ?adzmofo wrote:Hmm it now looks like they've replaced the system with an RCD 510 instead of the RNS 310 pictured in the above photo. Definitely no mats either. Do they 100% come standard on the car?
I mean surely if VW put the reg number in it should tell them what was spec'ed on the car anyway and match that.
