So you saying your car does not have sat nav now and it's been swapped with a touch screen rcd510 why didn't they give you another rns310 ?

All gtis should come with a USB and iPod cables for the mfd and red trimmed mats

Hope you sort it this sounds extremely strange to me

Vw should know what the car was supplied with from the factory I'd expect them to replace like for like tbh or tell you the sat nav was fitted later on

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. You're right it does seem strange though, unless it was added after market but even so I'd expect to be given it with the car.

I can live without the red trimmed mats and lead really but if it had a nav in it I definitely want the correct one back. Thanks for the advice :)

I can solve it the car never came with sat nav it doesnt have the right aerial on the roof they fitted one to try and get more money for the car it never worked so the rcd510 was put back in it's listed in the advert with a 6cd changer with mp3 as for the mats and cable these can easily go missing an I expect they have you can buy them cheap on eBay

At least it's solved enjoy the car Theirs nothing to worry about they just need to fix the aux input

Edit

The aux(option if it's greyed out) needs enabling in the setup menu before it works I'd guess this hasn't been done

Ah yes. I just checked on autotrader for a similar GTi with Nav and it's got a dual setup with a shark fin bit and a standard aerial sticking out too, which mine clearly doesn't have.

It still seems odd to go out of their way to fit a factory spec nav to a car where it's clearly not going to work without modifications (can it be done aftermarket anyway?), especially with them not being a VW dealer as well and not marketing it as having Nav either.

I don't even have the option to enable it in the Setup menu at the moment. Is there a initial setup menu or something else that i can get to?

Sat nav is quite popular retro fit the rns510 I'd guess you would have to route an aerial somewhere in the car I guess the rns310 could work the same if you knew what you were doing I'd think they walked next door an were told it need a aerial an the cost for the correct one and effort it was to much

Is the menu to enable Bluetooth in you settings im guessing this is in the same menu you can't find

There's no option to enable bluetooth that i could find and there were only 2 options in the settings menu for Media, which were to do with artist/name display or something like that.

Not with the car at the moment so will have to check later.

I tried a factory reset but didn't change anything tbh. There's no option for anything related to Aux in the menus. It does have options for the MDI connection though.

I spoke to the dealer, told them about the issues and asked why sat nav was put in. They told me that the Nav didn't work when they bought it (from another Bristol Street in Darlington) in and assumed it could just be fixed. I moaned a bit and they've given me my deposit back as a gesture of good will. Fair enough i guess as it didn't state in the original ad it had sat nav.

Yeah, I've got to drop it off to them next week to sort that out. I can survive without that in the short term. I'm trying to get them to source a ipod/usb cable too, although I've seen them on the web for 10-15 quid anyway.
