Post by red6n2 »

If you have low brake fluid, there must be a reason:

- Either your pads have gone completely
- You have a leak

Simply topping up may not be enough.

lol, not quite. dont scare the poor guy.

a leak is highly unlikely. top it up and go from there.

Does it beep briefly aswell? Mine does this from time to time along with the abs light usually find turning it off and on again does the ticket ahah ;)

i looked up flashing handbrake light in the manual when mine came on and it just says major brake fault do not drive your car. but they still work like a dream so ive just been ignoring it!

i wouldnt go posting stuff like that on an open forum where police and insurance companies can see, it might come back to haunt you.

Where else would the fluid go? It is a closed system, the level only should go down when the pads wear and therefore the pistons are further out, causing the level of fluid to drop. When replacing the pads, they are back at maximum level.

If the level drops, I would certainly check my brakes to see if the hoses are leaking or if there is any evidence of wetness around the caliper.

"the pads have gone completely".... unlikely to have gone all together more like worn within expectations.

check/top up fluid level and check brake pad thickness.

im going round my mates later tonight to change my spark plugs, (hes a mechanic so il get him to take a look at it)

please jsut need topping up... i had to change insurance companys this month and had to pay 2 months upfront so money this month is non exsistant plus i had bills coming out my ass

pads should be ok but il get them looked at at the wweekend at the latest,

its only beeped once as its more of a split second flash rather than a prolonged on then off then on,

thanks, for all your help though guys,
