Polo 9n TDI lowering

Post by enensis »

Hi guys, Im new here and pretty new to modding. I had a pug 306 before I put alloys on but nothing major.

Anyway I got myself a 2008 1.4 polo TDI a few months ago and planned to get alloys and lower it.

I got the alloys last week and now I want to lower it.

I went ahead and got these coilovers (note I got the correct ones for my car, I got the last of his stock so this is an alternative advert.

I am now having second thoughts about using cheap coilovers after reading a few posts on here (wish I did that first lol)

Basically I was wondering do you think it would be better to buy a +- £250 set of lowering suspension kit (fixed drop of 40mm) rather than using the set of £220 coilovers I have bought? I am getting the general opinion that with coilovers you need to spend £500+!! So would spending £250 on a suspension set last longer? I have heard rust is one concern of cheap coilovers as well as shoddy parts.

I only want to lower the car about 40mm for looks and I dont drive like a loon or do track days. Its only driven about 8000 miles a year to and from work.

If I do keep them I was intending to spray the coilovers to protect them from rust and copper grease the threads but I am abit concerned about the long term use of these and whether spending £220 on the coilovers and another £100 getting them fitted only to have them break and fall off in a year or two and possibly kill me in a horrible crash

Any advice would be great, thanks guys
