what new engine to put in car

hey all,

I might need a new engine, I currently have a 1.4 16v. Was wondering whats the easiest engine to replace it with. Dont want the same as I am not impressed by them. i would be keeping the gearbox and clutch and would like to replace with something more power full but would match up to the original gearbox and not to be hard to fit.

any ideas on the engine and cost?

I've hard so many bad things about the 1.4 16v their just not up to the build quality the valve stem seals go and the cylinders end up stripped bare on the inside from ware.

the problem your going to have is if you put a bigger engine in gear ratios anre going to change so to get the most out of it you may have to upgrade the gear system, you can get ahold of a GTI engine fairly easily, or go for the 1.8 20v audi tt engine,

but with upgrading an engine its highly recomended the brakes and gearbox get upgraded too, and then if you pugrade breaks you have to kake sure your wheels fit over the new disc's and callipers, a g60 conversion should handle it,
