Lights!

Post by NeilMcConville »

Okay, so after a few months I've finally decided that i really want/need new lights but I'm stuck between either just upgrading the bulbs or getting a proper HID kit :/ I already have sidelights and looks pretty silly when i have my full lights on. So if anyone has any recommendations, advise or experience with HID kits/ bulbs and installing them etc, please help! :L

One member Blaade has already told me that http://www.hids4u.co.uk/h7-35w-ultimate ... n-kit.html is a great kit to get so I'm debating getting it. Only thing is I dunno whats the story with the full beam lights and if they still work then or is that another blub? And I would still need to get my fogs changed too.

Also AJ_7 got Philips Blue Vision Plus H7 12V 55W blubs and say they work a treat and are farrr cheap than the HID kit :/

So can anyone help me decide which to get and what sizes of blubs I need and if the full beam works or what the story is :L Cheers!

That's mad money for a kit mate the rclick kit is incredible and about a hits of the price. H7 will be your dipped beam and id imagine h1 for he main beam but since fitting my hid's I've barely used y main beam at the end of the day no one sees it anyway. Depending on your car you need to make sure wether you need can us or not any more info shout!

IMO you defo get what you pay for when it comes to HID KITS. Ive had many kits from HIDS4u and i would greatly reccomend them. I have the H7R 4500K kit in my GTI. They are the anti-glare ones which makes them look OEM. They cast the Best beam pattern you can get in HID bulbs. But also, a bonus with the hids4u kits is that if you ever have any problems with them, they have 2 years warrenty and they replace any items faulty without question. Ive actualy still got my 5 year old pro kit in my dads golf and they still work like a charm :-) and on the polo, its about 15 mins a side to do a perfect factory like fitment of the kit :-) i say treat yourself pal lol

Hiya

Could you post up some photos of where you mounted your ballast resistors, If you had Dipped and Main HID you would have 4 Ballast resistors and what the backs of your lights are like with the Hid wiring.

Thanks

4500k is OEM xeonon colour. Starts up icey blue and settles down to a pure white colour in couple of seconds. I mounted my balllasts and resistors down the side of my wings. Theres a thread i created on here with few pics of mine with all lights on, have a search through my posts :-).

Sorry, yes your correct, 4300k is OEM xenon. My bad lol :) TBH between 4300 - 5000k, you struggle to tell the difference. Plus, with the anti-glare type bulb, it appears to give a more crystal white colour than a standard HID bulb. I parked mine at the side of two of my mates. One who has a golf R with factory fit xenons and the other who has 5000k HIDS, mines a perfect colour match to the golf. The only way you can tell them apart is on start up, where aftermarkets dont have the self levelling feature obviously.
