Sidelights!!

Post by PJH »

Surely there must be a way of changing a set of sidelights without taking off your front bumper...?

..? Sidelights as in parklights/citylights?

Just pull the cabel connected to em ;) No need for anything else but to remove the dust cover behind the headlamp..

Yep, hook your finger round the wire and give it a bit of a tug. Wiggle it to loosen it if you're nervous about yanking on wiring but it won't break.

Please don't take your bumper off. It's a massive effort just for bulbs...

I found theres only one position I can put my body in to get my fingers in and remove the sidelights. Thing is you have to pinch the plastic on either side of bulb betwenn 2 of your fingers to pop it out before pulling it out. To take out the driver side one I used to stand in the middle of car, turn body to the left a bit, then put my right hand in under bonnet and use first and second fingers to unclip the bulb and pull it out (a bit like australian DJing!) ha. Seems to be the only way to get at it. Try this but vice versa for passenger side. Gotta have long fingers otherwise its the bumper off method! taking front bumper off is not so hard but does take 20 minutes. Once youve done it once though it will be a lot quicker to take off in future ;-)
