That's mine on a 120mm drop with 15s. Once a get the 17s on it will sit just right. I have less then a finger space between the wheel and the arch. I will need stretch tyres once a get 17s just so they fit correct an don't rub. The car already rubs with more then 2 ppl in :)
Ps these are ebay cheapes. And work just as good as the expensive ones unless ya gana race it. But who's gana race a 1.2 lol

I might end up getting the 1.2 60ps version... Yeap it is slow... 0-62mph in 16.1 seconds... But I think first cars are meant to look like and not fast... There's a 1.2 75PS and 0-62mph in 13.9 seconds but it's diesel and I'm not sure about a diesel for my first car... What are your views? 1.2 60PS version or 1.2 TDi 75PS version?

Also I thought about the alloys again... Probably 18'' won't be a wise decision as I might be screwing it with the curbs etc. Might end up with some OEM 16'' or 17'' :)

Phone up the insurance company and at least get a quote for each of the different models, doesn't harm in asking!

Try Elephant, that's who I'm with just now. And add named drivers that will bring your premium down a fair chunk (Dad, Mum, Older Brother etc)

I have the 70bhp. And my mate who same age has the 60. Not much of a diffrence tbh. A leav him on the motor way but that's it. In my opinion it is not worth the extra cash you pay on the insurance. But mate u will haw a shock at the price of instance for a first time driver trust me

Yeah I'll just go for the 60ps version and make it look nice rather than fast.

Does anyone here have a video to show the exhaust sound for a diesel engine? Struggling to find one but I want to have a listen to see if they sound like a normal petrol engine or a loud diesel engine. Preferably the 1.2 TDI 75ps engine please if you can. Or anyone with that engine, can you please tell me how you like the sound of the engine?

Any help would be good :)

Thanks

Ahh right. One reason why I don't like diesel is because they don't sound good. There's a 1.2 TDI engine that I was considering to getting it because of the good mpg but if it does sound bad, I'll stick with the petrol :)

Without checking, i'd estimate the 1.2 60ps is about £2000 cheaper than the 1.2 TDi 75ps. Unless your going to be covering astronomical miles, the initial outlay of the diesel engine wouldnt prove beneficial to you. Do you know roughly what mileage you would be covering per annum? I don't believe it'd be more than 25k and unless your touching this sort of mileage, with the cost of a modern day litre of diesel, you'd be better off going for the 1.2 60 petrol or u1.2 70ps.

Welcome to the forum and all that jazz

But in my humble opinion you are wasting your time searching the net for wheels and mods for a car you may not even get.

Insurance will be the killer, unfortunately, I genuinely dread to think what it will cost you / your parents!

Also a set of heavy 18's on a 1.2S will do nothing but slow it down and they are dangerously slow already, the initial outlay for wheels & tyres, as well increase to your no doubt painful insurance premium, really doesn't make it a wise investment. You will just draw attention to yourself from other would be boy racers and scally's that take a shine to your motor, and of course the boys in blue as well!

I appreciate your enthuasiam, we've all been there, hell I get excited looking at the car I'm going to move onto next (I'm eyeing up 335d Coupe's at the minute), but don't set yourself up for a disappointment, look at more cost effective cars for you first motor whilst you gain experience on the roads because chances are that you will park it in a hedge or worse and think how gutted you'd be if it were a Polo.

I think you'd be better of with something cheap and French to start off with. A Peugeot 306 is a good first car in my opinion, even an early 1.4 306, will have more get up and go than a new Polo 1.2, will save you god knows how much in insurance, you can pick one up for less than a 1,000 of the queen's pound notes plus its will have more room inside to get your mates in, has good chassis .... some lift off oversteer fun to be had in the corners ( don't ever brake whilst attempting this) ... and has a bit of bonnet in front of you to absorb an impact of the inevitable hedge and is made of a stronger stuff than its 106 brother, seriously those things are made from tin foil.

Take a step back and look at the bigger picture, and come back to the Polo idea when insurance will be cheaper for you and you have abit more driving experience under your belt, and your hard earned cash will be at less of a risk. Unless of course your getting everything paid for you by your parents then the Polo is ideal, just don't mod it!

As a first time driver you're looking at the wrong sort of cars. I've been here done this a brand new car is not worth getting at your age it's a lot of money to throw away on the depreciation. Insurance will be through the roof. And if something happens you will be gutted. Buy a nice older car I've got a 6n2 ita a nice car plenty of scope to modify and it's a 1.0 cheap petrol and cheap insurance. Build up your no claims and then buy something nice. Trust me buddy!
