Look what arrived today ;)

Had my gti 5 months now and i've only been a cuple long runs so not had a chance to notice until last week tht my second gear syncro was nakerd. So as u can imagine i was chuffed when this arrived at work today from vw dealer Cant wait to fit it tommorow

Did you get a free replacement or you paid for it yourself? if so how much was it?

Its getting replaced at my work under my used car warrenty so free. But its a exchange box from vw at £1200+VAT thts the cheapest we could get it. was going to keep the old box and rebuild it but theres a £630 surcharge

Most places ask for yours in return otherwise yogurt stuck with the surcharge. Also they do that for callipers, pads, and starter motors

im glad i got mine under warrenty! had the same problem with the 2nd gear syncro

That is very lucky!... i think im just paranoid about mine, still works fine haha.. maybe i should drive another see what its like..

Also does the ibiza box fit or any other 5 speeds?

Yeah i know the surcharges are mento for the vauxhall stuff aswell as thts where i work lol Fitted the gearbox today only took me 3 hours! Finsihed jst in time for lunch aha!! Yes the ibizia box does fit alex as its the same. Only know tht cause it was on the label on the new box haha!
