Re: Brads progress: BIG BRAKES???

Post by bradley1983 »

Thanks verity.

Car is pulling so smooth. 6500 rev changes are nice as it missed at the whole rev range before.

Question..................Can you do a rear big brake upgrade? I am going to do the front asap as I keep cooking my discs from driving so hard.

I am now offically known to dorset police but they can never prove anything. I keep getting visits from them giving me section 59 warnings. But I tell them no proof? then f**k off my property or the german shepherd is coming out!!! they pull me every time I pass a police car. I warned them any more tugs and it will be harrasment and my solicitor will be in touch.

All because someone does not like my car. I assume its the exhaust as it is loud 8) so I will show them respect and get the typhoon as soon as spare cash comes up and maybe a sub

Still need to do CV joint asap and check my gearbox oil and selector shaft seal as its getting a bit stiff so I guess I might be leaking my fluids all around dorset.

You won't notice bigger rear brakes much because if you brake, it's like 80% front and 20% rears.. ;)

Yeah as Peetje said you wouldnt notice any difference anyway as the rears do next to nothing

Unfortunately there isnt an upgrade available unless you change the hubs from 4 stud to 5 stud.
Massive upgrade would be the Octavia vRS 256mm rears and then running the big VAG 312mm front discs but you would never fit them under the OEM rims.

My gti has been written off after a 5 mph bump!!!
£1400 damage!!! Well their price. I can fix all for £300 max.
So.......they valued my car at £2350 which is not bad.

I thought I would show you guys and girls what I am driving thanks to my lovely Mrs putting me on her policy

On condition I polish it :)
I love the glitter in the paint. You can see how good the reflection is on the door and you can my poor red baby.

Damage, broken indicator, clips on light for the indicator and slight dent in wing and bonnet. Also, need to spray front bumper on passanger corner. That's it.

Cat D write off so I will buy back.

How much you getting back mate? That sounds like a nice time to get some nice paintwork done mate. Front end respray yeah? You can save some money by stripping it down and just asking them to prep and paint... No mechanical damage?

Buy back £550.

No mechanical at all. They quoted £600 labour and £250 vat and that's what wrote it off.

So it will go in for both bumpers to be sprayed. New lenses and a washer cap. I will plastic weld the light fitting. That is it!!!

I should get £1700 and the car.

Is only bent the wing where it covers the indicator(about 1 cm) nothing I can't fix myself.
