Hi,
Just looking at getting a 4-1 manifold of some kind, but when i was strolling around ebay i saw a gti manifold that does the same thing as standard.
Now, My cat is obviously in the downpipe so i was wondering if this would be ok (in terms of fitting) to do, will this fit direct to my current standard system?
Because branded or not, this is definately bypassing a cat converter and will make my car a little nippier and louder.
Any ideas? and i do know having a decat is illegal blah blah. Im not looking for huge power increases either!
cheers
Also for servicing my car, what oil?
would this be okay?

The GTI Manifold is pretty restrictive anyway so you won’t really notice any benefit if you fitted it to your 1.4 6N2.
Your best buying a Raceland 4-2-1 manifold which uses the original CAT or alternatively you can have a De-cat pipe custom made to fit with it.
Check out Craig's GTI build thread, he has a GTI running a Raceland Manifold with a custom De-cat pipe

The Raceland manifold is universal fitment with the GTI and 1.4 Polo's so it will fit
That Castrol oil will be fine in your car
I would get the VW Quantum Synta Silver oil though as its the best option and relatively cheap too

Awesome, thanks for the reply pal, Yeah no worries i can see now, its the next bit after the manifold that needs to be swapped to decat.
Ill go for cheapest option as its a studnet budget time! and cant turn down that offer too easily

Yeah mate no worries
Yup the manifold for the GTI keeps the CAT so if you want to de-cat the exhaust you will need to get a custom pipe made, either that or buy a Sports CAT.
