Clear/ glass finish on door pilars

Post by Joz »

Well, I have no idea what to search for. Feel free to link me to a site if this has been discussed earlier.

What I want to do is basically make the black matte-finished door-pilars glossy, so that they match the windows. Has someone done this? I think I saw it a while ago on someones car.

Thanks as always for the replies :)

For a 3 door, the part numbers are as follows.

6Q3 837 901 G 041
6Q3 837 902 G 041

I paid £21.41 + VAT each from my local stealers.

If you’ve got a 5 door, part numbers are

Front:
6Q4 837 901 G 041
6Q4 837 902 G 041

Rear:
6Q6 839 904 Q041
6Q6 839 903 Q041
6Q4 839 902 G041
6Q4 839 901 G041

Not sure on prices for these though.

Found some pics for anyone who doesn’t know what I’m talking about

Can you use a screwdriver.......? :P

Whack your windows all the way down.
Pull out the rubber seal that runs vertically up the B pillar.
Undo the 2 phillips screws (careful not to drop these down into the insides of your door).
Pull out the matte cover.
Replace with glossy.
Reinstall the screws.
Reinsert the seal, working all the way up to check its all set in place.

5/10 minute job.

I've just done a quick Google and searched vaglink/orientalparts but no joy.
Best bet is dealer, I thought the prices were fairly reasonable for a change.

Clear/ glass finish on door pilars

Don't suppose you guys would know an easy way to remove the rear one on a 5 door. Bloody window doesn't go down far enough to get to the bottom screw haha.
