Cupra console bushes and 312 Brakes

Post by Bogwoppit »

I had a few modifications carried out on the Polo yesterday, thought I'd post some photos up.

The first was removing the standard 'voided' console bushes on the front wishbones and replacing them with Ibiza Cupra 'solid' rubber bushes (6LL407183).
Original bushes:

New ones fitted:

The bush change has made a massive difference to the front end feel of the car, so much more feel ect, I cannot recommend it enough. Going to have the alignment checked next week.

The next mod was to replace the standard Lucas 288mm front brakes with the ATE 312mm front brakes as fitted to the Polo GTi Cup, Audi TT ect

Standard brakes:

Fitting the new brakes
New splash guard, same as Polo GTi Cup:

Brakes going on:

I'm still bedding in the brakes, so cannot comment on the difference, but they fill the standard wheels fairly well. :D

Looking nice mate, did you fit the bushes yourself?

I'd like to do mine but not sure how mush of a pain it would be

One of my friend owns a VAG specialist garage so he fitted the bushes, but I did help with the brakes.

The bushes can be  without the right tools, there is a guide on Briskoda:

Done both these mod's as well and recommend them, the cupra bushes have caused quite a lot of cabin vibration though, only on the useless roads round here, well worht the positive steering feel :D

I found the brakes make a real differnece as long as your rears are also in good condition, when i first fitted mine i didnt notice much difference, replaced back discs and pads at the same time and combined, my stopping power is gooood! :D

Looking good

which car are those calipers off?

Did you buy them new or used?

Were they already red?

I bought S3 calipers and need to paint them red

I bought the 312 calipers and carriers already powder coated red from an Ebay supplier. The brakes are available in various different colours, just look for items that say "312mm calipers MK4 Golf" in the title:

I'm pretty certain that the ebay shop is run by DaveB, a well known brake guru across the VAG forums.
