Re: Polo GTi multifunction steering wheel buttons retrofit
^^Cheers, mate!
Today I received a delivery from Germany, containing the MF buttons and their control module:
(The airbag wiring loom + two repair wires below I bought from my local VW dealer.)
Still undecided whether to spend extra to get the proper buttonless wiper stalk....

What spec car is this going into into that requires a new airbag loom?

1.2 TSI Comfortline without a MFSW.SteveP wrote:What spec car is this going into into that requires a new airbag loom?
The new loom is needed to get the black MFBCM connector. And the two repair wires are needed to get LIN from J519 and +12V from fuse box. The poverty-spec versions don't have these two wires run ready.

Multifunction buttons up and working!
Took the best part of Saturday and some of the Sunday morning, but then I did take a lot of pics of the operation (might even do a "How-To" at some point). The majority of time was spent routing the two needed extra wires since mine didn't have a MFSW from factory.

Can someone recap the part numbers needed for a 2011 GTI, and some suggestions as a good place to buy them?

Re: Polo GTi multifunction steering wheel buttons retrofit
I wrote a little tutorial on how to retrofit a MFSW to a standard non-GTI Polo that didn't come with a factory-fitted MFSW. The tutorial can be read here.

It will only come with the buttons on the left, unlike the GTI which has it on both sides.
Re: Polo GTi multifunction steering wheel buttons retrofit
Thanks for that Just looked on Pistonheads and all GTI that have Steering buttons have both sides and non gti have on Left. I noticed that the GTI have metal trim for the buttons

Re: Polo GTi multifunction steering wheel buttons retrofit
Hi guys,
Could someone please assist me with some part numbers for the South African market?
I need part numbers for:
The Gti STeering wheel
Headlights with the little LED's
Polo GTI rear bumper
Polo GTI boot spoiler
Polo centre armrest
Also could you advise if all of these will be compatible with my 1.6 TDI?
Thanks in advance

Re: Polo GTi multifunction steering wheel buttons retrofit
Hi guys,
New user to the forum, and I need some suggestions to a problem I have....
I just retrofitted the multifunction buttons to the steering wheel, in my '11 GTi, according to this thread. Every function works fine, but the red backlighting in the left side buttons are not illuminated (lefthand drive car). Do you reckon its a coding issue that can be fixed with VCDS (or what its called), or did I maybe get a bed set of buttons...??
Thanks
/Jasper

Re: Polo GTi multifunction steering wheel buttons retrofit
Thread Revive!! Don't shoot me!!
I've recently ordered one of these for my 6R TDI Cross. Being from South Africa, we didn't get the Full LCD. We only get clusters with the fixed LCD screen. Which sucks when you have an RNS510 and Bluetooth.
I haven't received it yet, so trying to get as much info as possible on all the other parts I need, and coding to make everything work together.
Through this thread I've found a lot of stuff already, so I'm really happy.
This is what my shopping list looks like so far:
6Q0 953 513 AL 9B9 MFSW Stalk with Cruise Control
5K0 998 537 B MF Button Switches (Silver)
I don't have cruise control. So will get the cruise control stalk and just have that activated.
I wanted to PM SteveP as he seems pretty damn clued up on these things, but I can't PM yet (tell me why!) so any info to get all these parts working together will be appreciated.
