Remove mirror covers?

Post by Joz »

So, I've been thinking about removing and wrapping the mirror covers in carbon fiber. And I thought that while they were off, I might as well change the signal bulb to a LED one :P

Does anybody have a guide on how to do this? I don't want to end up cracking the covers obviously.. :/

The covers do clip on and off, I'm not sure if it's easier to un-clip the mirror glass first then take it off. As for the indicators, they are a sealed unit that seperates via 2 torx screws. also I'm pretty sure they are LED already

Oh, ok. Great. Thanks.

Yeah, they do actually seem like LED ones, but I didnt think they were since no other bulb was led from factory.

Thanks for the pics too, really helpful! :D :D

Yeh, that was easy^^

There is a guide on youtube as well, from "www.VWGenuineParts.co.uk".

I'll come back to you when I've given it a try :)

Edit: After approx 20min of work on one of the mirrors, I gave up. Too many nasty angles.. I guess I'll have to buy new ones that are pre-foiled..
