I don't have bi xenons or fogs.Ive tried the TFL pin method but it doesn't seem to work.Tried the whole indicate/flash/ignition sequence too. I have VCDS, but I can't find it in there either, I've emailed Ross-Tech but still waiting on a reply, just seeing if anyone else knows?

Why?
Never had anyone pull out in front of me driving my car with DRL's

Re: Disable DRLs
Tried the fuse route aswell, according to elsawin its fuse 56 under the dash, but I don't seem to have that one
I'm trying to switch them off becaseu for me it just looks like I'm driving with my headlights on constantly and if I go over a bump at all it just looks like I'm flashing the guy in front of me!
Disable DRLs
As far as I'm aware they can't be turned off
Re: Disable DRLs
That's what I'm beginning to think now, they must hard wired / or coded. I have Ross Tech looking into the code, and I'm seeing if the hard-wired options, i.e fuse, TFL pin etc. For those out there VCDS is a great little tool(albeit a bit expensive)! Now switched on auto lock doors above 10mph (anti-hijack) and auto unlock upon key removal!

Re: Disable DRLs
I asked this to the dealer when I was buying mine, and he said you can't turn them off...
and apparently in the future, the car building law (or whatever!) is going to change so that ALL new cars MUST be built with DRLs, as it makes for much safer driving apparently. So he said they have already started fitting them to the cars because of this.

Re: Disable DRLs
yeh i've heard of the too but only applies to cars sold post Jan/Feb 2011 I believe!I'm on a 60 plate so no legal requirement there!I wouldn't mind if I had dedicated LED DRLs....and I'm assuming the VW dealer option will be costly!

If it was registered up to end feb 2011 it could still be a 60 reg

Re: Disable DRLs
I don't think he told me they were fitting them to the cars because they HAD to, but because they wanted to, to be above/before the rule actually comes in.
Re: Disable DRLs
If you really want to turn them off remove the light switch on your dash and remove the cables going to the off position, they annoyed me at first , i just got over it.
They are going to be legislation soon though.

Do you know which ones would that be?all I see is the connector and the switch lol I'm slowly getting used to them, but over time would they not reduce the life of the bulb prematurely etc?
Yeh I looked into this, apparently the legislation affect cars registered/sold post feb 2011 and mines was registered nov 2010.

Re: Disable DRLs
The reason why yours still has it is because they new it was coming soon your car could have been sat on there forecourt for 2 years before it got registered so they prepare them for upcoming legislation,a customers car I look after is a Ferrari F40 that was made in 1989 and he bought it in 2001 from the dealers so it only got registered in 2001, it happens a lot, Where are you based if your based near Heywood ( Bury ) area or even Burnley I can sort it out for you, all I did was get some 6k HID's that's the best solution.
