Which tyre size, 215 or 205?

Hi,
I’m looking to get some new tyres and 17” wheels on the missus’s 9n3 polo gti. I’m also looking to lower it slightly with some Eibach springs, about 25 -30mm

The wheels I’ve got in mind are the 17” 7.5j et35 Monza replicas with some 215/40/17 tyres. Ideally I’d like the 17” wheels that come on the new polo gti but I don’t think there’s much chance of me getting hold of a used set.

My main dilemma is the tyre size. I want to go 215/40/17 but after much searching of the forum I still can’t find a definite answer. Some people say 215/40/17 will be fine, some people say I will get rubbing issues and recommend a 205/40/17.

Before I buy 4 new wheels and tyres can someone please advise if I will get rubbing on these wheels with the mild drop and 215 tyres?

205/40/17 will be fine and depending on what tyre you buy will look very slightly strecthed + there quite a bit cheaper than 215
