Ending Lease

Post by Polo 2011 Moda »

Anyone on here think VW would let me end my lease 12 months into a 36 month lease if I take another one of their cars out again on lease? without no charge? I don't think they'd lose anything, probably sell mine for £9995 with it being a 11 plate with 8000 miles, showroom condition & Ive already gave them £2500 with payments
I wanna get a 1.4 Match.
I love my car but the 3 cylinder engine is the only downfall

Any past lease experiences? :)

Im currently in the middle of changing my car with volkswagen, I've had my SE for 11 months, paid £11,500 for it last march, only done 9,000 miles, and come June when my Up! arrives im getting £7,500 for my SE :(

It will cost you to change, Im paying the difference and some extra for a deposit!

Gutted I didnt get a 1.4 last year, only reason I didnt was incase my insurance quotes a year later (after free insurance) were more but its only costing £50 more a year from a 1.2 - 1.4
Cant believe it

Its always the same when you upgrade early. I got rid of my punto after a year old and only got £3500 for it, I know it was a F.I.A.T (fix it again tomorrow) but it was a 57 plate... Shocking like lol.

No. Definitely not. The trade price will be much lower than you expect. If you think the retailer could put your car on the forecourt at approx £9995, then bear in mind that they will want to clear £2500 on it at least. I would expect you to get £7500 for it. So depending on how much you owe, i would expect that after 12 months you will be in negative equity. Depending on how much of a deposit you paid.

However, thats not to say you cant end the lease early. If you want to part exchange it and can afford whatever price difference there is between the new and old car (by way of cash funding), then VW will pay off your old finance, provide you pay the difference, and happily let you take out finance again on another new car.

You'd end up taking a big hit but it's nothing that couldn't be dealt with. Your best port of call would be to obtain a settlement quote from your finance company, once you have got this you can find out what the dealer will give you in part-exchange. They will take into consideration the fact your buying another car with themselves and they may give you a little bit more for yours in this case.

If i were you, i'd mint your car up and give the dealer a visit towards the end of the month, when they are pushing for sales for their own statistics, just be honest with them about the situation and let them know the settlement figure and let them work out the maths :)

In short, you'll definatley take a hit but it's not something thats unmanageable.

Simple point is...leasing causes you to be linked with whatever company and if you do have second thoughts you will definitely be on the losing side - maybe too late but just saying...if you had bought the car fully you could have actually sold it for the amount you think it's at but since the company decides
(straight to the point) Maybe if you have the cash, buy the actual car since the whole vehicle is fully yours whereas the leasing just takes the p*55
If your concerned about depreciation then just keep in mind next time (presumably after all this in a couple of years) you might want to stick to 2nd hand cars since you benefit a lot more to the new buyer (considering it's fairly new and it's not a category car)

All the best :!: :D

Leasing is not the same as hire purchase/pcp.

He mentioned free insurance further up, that would mean he's on a PCP - with the Solutions scheme offered by VW.
