look for a free paint program, paint is rubbish
(its good for making msn emoticons at 800% magnification, full size screenshots, and little else)
even a free trial version of paint shop or photo shop will stop-gap for a month or two each
if you have office 97, 2000, xp or even windows xp then chances are youve got microsoft photo editor too, which is ok for resizing pics. it only lets you go by percents, but at least you can select the "smooth" option which makes it look a zillion times better than paints pixilated resize efforts!
