questions for GTI owners

Post by Craigy »

Ok guys got some questions for ya :D

i currently own a new shape 10 plate polo 1.2 that i got last july however when i was looking to buy a car i almost bought an 06 plate polo GTI

i like the little 1.2 polo but its just too basic for me and i have seen a nice little GTI in black that i was going to go have a look at

so whats the GTI like as a daily driver? i would be using it for mostly town driving with 10 mins motorway driving to and from work

is there any known issues to watch for ?

and how are they on go go juice? how many miles you getting to a full tank ? ( just compairing to my current polo but i aint on a tight budget before someone says  )

and lastly when should the cam belts be done on these ?

cheers guys

I've had my 9N3 GTi for a little over a week or so now, had a MK2 Golf GTi before but my girlfriend has a 9n3 1.4 SE so was familier with the model before I bought it. I use mine as a daily, just over 2 miles to work and 8 mile drive to the missus' on the evening if I go to see her. Petrol wise, its ok. I get about 30mpg out of it, but it is stage 2 tuned which I think doesn't help! Comfort wise it's lovely, its literally got every option so its comfortable and easy to drive.

There's a gorgeous one on eBay right now in gun metal with recaros, brembo brakes engine rebuild and a garatt turbo and custom manifold running 300bhp. It's stunning and cup kit as well!

Sell the car privately mate. Would fetch much higher than the trade in price.
Plus once you get into the GTI ownership, you'd want to modify it...etc ;)
