6R Polo GTI has the battery in the boot as standard. But John has obviously fitted a lightweight version to replace the original.

The lightweight battery works well, but you cannot run anything for long without the engine on. Like Deako says, the battery is standard fit in the boot for the GTI. 8)

Yes the spare wheel would fit if it wasn't for me having the water methanol injection fitted in there too. :D I currently have a puncture repair bottle with the jack in there.

Water meth is great. If you have a working knowledge of wiring and where to tap the boost sensor into and nozzle then it is doable in a day.

Congrats Hurdy on your outing in the litlle mean machine :D
Must have raised a few eyebrows and made a few people take a second look. :)
The most powerful cars there were a 1000whp GTR35 and a 1013bhp lightweight scooby. The GTR did 217mph in just over a mile!!!

Yep, that's the one! Bl00dy fast!

My mate did 194mph the day after in a manual Porsche Turbo on stock turbos, full interior and tyres.....in the wet! Imagine how fast he will be next year on modified turbos and a built engine, with wide sticky rubber!

Hi Hurdy
This is my first post to uk-polos.net
I too have a 5 door black GTI but it's not the one I want...... I want yours ;-)
I have just started down the mod path with a APR stage 1 tune and APR intake. BUt I admit I am really green at this stuff.
My question for you though is "If you were to start again on this project what would you do first (or better) and why?"
Cheers

Welcome Weedub. 8)

I'd do exactly what I have done. I was planning the mods well in advance of having the car and researched each mod before carrying it out. I learnt this from the Edition 30 Golf I had prior to this car and on that car I think I had several revisions before I settled on the final mods. With this one I knew what to go for from the start.

The remap and NGK spark plugs had to be the first things as Revo stated that their map was safer for the engine than the OEM map. :)

Any new about the possibility to exclude the kick-down via VAG-COM when in manual...?

I'd really like to do that, it's so annoing...! :x
