Washing the car tomorrow: Advice please?

Post by aaronon »

Hey everyone :):):)

First off. . .I've lost my tin of Collinite 915 (which is 28 quid :(:(:( ) . . so I'm stuck with the Auto gylm stuff that my family have gotten me!

I'm using the normal shampoo for wash the car etc but I have a question about "Super Resin Polish".

Is this something that removes layers of paint or is it just a polish you rub in just like Turtle Wax wax that you apply after a wash?

The second question is "Engine Machine Cleaner". . .in the instructions it shows someone HOSING the engine and then applying this stuff and rinsing it off :S Surely you can't do this? As there are wires and everything! If I apply it then how will I rinse it off without hosing the engine and causing problems?

Thanks for any help :)

Super Resin is just a polish bud. Rub onto the paintwork then remove with a microfibre cloth.

I wouldnt spray water into the engine personally, although some people do. I'd just spray that engine cleaner and agitate it with a brush or something, then remove with a cloth.

I do this sometimes mate when the engine bay is dirty, its no problem for the engine really

I just keep the engine running whilst doing it, try to avoid directly jet washing the battery/electrics ect

Other than that, spray the cleaning stuff on, blast it off and dry off the excess moisture, let the running of the engine evaporate the rest once it gets hot

Thanks for the answers!! Stayed away from the engine hahaha. I'm scared. I'll wreck my car :D

I used the super resin polish and I really like it. Arms are wrecked now lol.

Bit annoyed too actually. Kids have done finger drawings on my bonnet an even when I washe it and polished it you can still see their dirty fingers and squiggly lines :(
