My GTI

Post by Phil-polo6R »

hey guys, haven't posted on here for a while but back on now! since last time the 1.2 Red Polo has gone :( but has been replaced with a 61 plate White GTI.

It was brand new with only two miles on the clock, the spec is -

3-door In white
xenon headlights with DRL
panoramic sun roof

the car has been great! no oil issues to report yet and just hit the 2k mark so it seems VW have pulled there finger out and updated the internals.

since ive had it ive done a few easy mods, painted both front badges gloss black, de-badged rear GTI badge played with the VAG-COM and changed the brake and diff settings big improvement for such a easy mod.

i have a few plans for the car with summer coming i will be going to a few shows so cant have it looking out of place!

stage 1 re-map
coil overs, or low springs (not decided yet)
air filter
RCD-510
wheel spacers
bov
carbon fiber skimmed defuser and side skirts and mirrors

maybe exhaust and intercooler + stage 2!!

heres a few pics of it, hope you like it.

Old and New the day i got it

Car looks fantastic, but I'm really not a fan the chav mis-spaced numberplate.

What do the brake and diff settings change with Vag-com? I'd be interested in changing that on mine if it makes it drive better :)

surprised at your opinion on the plate had nothing but positive feedback from that mate I love it :)

Taken from Hurdays Build thread -

Changed a couple of the settings in VCDS today, took the car for a spin and the difference is superb.

Changes made.....

In VCDS Select Control Module, go to 03 ABS Brakes, then 10 Adaptation, go to Channel:

Channel 09 Brake Assist
There are 3 settings for this
0-center (stock setting)
1-small
2-hard

I changed this from the stock 0 setting to 2 and this has made the brake pedal more responsive to smaller inputs. Feels more positive in use, especially under enthusiastic motoring.

Channel 36 XDS
There are 3 settings
0-center (stock setting)
1-weak
2-strong

Again I changed this from 0 to 2 and this one mod alone makes the Polo into a different/better beast under hard driving. It acts almost like my ED30 did with the Quaife and yet doesn't feel as fidgety. Seems more planted around bends and that much better to push through the corner on exit. This mod comes with a five thumbs up...

Thanks that looks useful, as soon as I get VCDS I'll try those out :)

Illegal numberplates are my pet hate - be it mis-spaced, added screw heads, font changed etc. As trivial as your change may be, I'm still not a fan.
