Vissa's GTI

Post by Vissa »

He guys!

I'm reading a lot here on this forum! Many great tips and tricks and a lot of knowledge here! Time to introduce myself and my car.

I'm Remco Visbeen, 24 years young and living in a small city called Hellevoetsluis in the Netherlands. My job is Procesoperator at the Neste Oil NexBTL refinery here on the Maasvlakte. Hobby's are: Cars, extreme PC hardware and professional Sup-Air paintball all over Europe. Many expensive hobby's to have, but worth every €.

My car, bought in mid 2011 is a Candy white VW Polo 1.4TSI GTI DSG7. Ordered with Xenon/Led headlights, RNS510 DVD/Navigation, tinted windows, 17' Detroits and some small other, boring, stuff. :P

It's going to it's first full year. I waited with ordering aftermarket parts untill I could really trust the car. Why? You all know the problems with the GTI's. Oil consumption, misfires, DSG failing etc. Luckily mine does well all this time *knocking off* Only the oil consumption is somewhat high, but not so high that it's bad/terrible. I can live with it.

So the customizing has begun recently. I like clean and original looking cars, not with fancy spoilers etc. The first thing I bought were white H7 LED cornerlights, because the stock ones were giving yellow/orange light.

The next thing was a BOV, I like the PSSS sound so XT Motorsports fitted a Forge for me:

Also, after seeing Hurdy's performance improvement, a ITG intake was mounted on the GTI:

And yesterday I mounted a shorter Antenna and a red GTI logo on the back. On the front didn't worked out that well, couldn't get the grille off. But I heared lots of force is needed so I'm gonna try it tomorrow again.

Plans for the, near, future:

- Milltek Turboback Resonated exhaust (already ordered)
- Stage 2 ECU tuning by JD-Engineering ( ordered with the Milltek )
- Rieger ,,Carbonfiber'' diffuser
- Powerflex supportrubbers
- Other suspension
- Front brake upgrade
- New alloys for the summer

Enough to come! Any tips, tricks or other things are always welcome! Stay tuned! :D

Any reason why you are not looking at an Intercooler upgrade? Have a look at the APR website. I have one on my Polo now. Cheers

Those Monzas look great, are they the diamond turned ones? I thought VW only made that style for the Golf and they wouldn't fit the Polo?

The red badges look much better too, thinking of getting those myself.

These are a standard option here in the Netherlands. Here they are called ,,Detroits'', the standard rims for the Golf GTI's. :)

gti doesnt need any visual tuning. It looks awesome as is.
GL with your project, first thing i d do is chip tuning though, since this engine can really give you more — thats like major thing in my book

Thanks! Yes the tuning is the first thing it's getting now. The Milltek system is on it's way here, when it arrives it will be fitted at JD-Engineering and the GTI will directly be going on the Dyno for ECU tuning there!

Can't wait for the new numbers! :D

It's a complete stainless steel 2.76' exhaust system with a larger bore downpipe and a highflow sports cat. It gives the GTI more bhp/torque and a fenominal sound!

Pricey upgrade btw. :P Will be making video's when it's installed / tuned.

Are they OEM rims? Have you converted to 5x112 PCD or do VW sell them in 5x100 fitment?

I believe the Shadow Monza's are standard on the GTi's in the Netherlands!! Presuming these would still be the 5x100 fitment! :)

Hi Remco,

Good to see you've sorted some great mods out already for the car. The red GTI badges look lush, but then I'm biased

The front badge will need some "modification" of the front grille to fit. I had to drill an extra hole to get the badge to sit right as the OEM ones use clip points and the one you/I bought are metal clipped on.

You are correct! These rims are a option for the Polo here in the Netherlands. Standard they come with the Denver rims like on all others. For 125€ more they give you these Detroits, or Monza's as you call them here in the UK. They are 5X100. :D

Thanks for the heads up Hurdy! Maybe it was easier to just remove the letters on the front badge and stick new red GTI letters on the OEM clip? If that's possible.

Awell, I will get it sorted soon. :D

If you are going to transfer the red letters....I wouldn't! They are smaller than the OEM ones and you really need the USA anniversary red GTI letters that come with the silver rabbit. These are larger and fit the OEM mounting spot on! Costs a little more though. Or this....
