2012 GTI

Post by POLOGTI2011 »

Right ive owned my gti polo for over a year cracking little car! Now it had a new engine after 4000 miles then new piston rings 4000 later, it still drinks oil and chucks smoke out! VW and I have had enough of it now so ive ordered a brand spanking new one which I should have by june! Same colour same spec just added the xenons which I have to pay for. Does anyone no if the 2012 models have different engine set up. i.e no more oil being drunk?

Isn't sure to say, the 2012 models still have problems. It's still so random like the earlier models.

Yes they are mate.

VW have announced that they will be putting a new engine (i use that term loosely) in any polo gti from the month of May 2012. My car (god rest her soul) and yours were both 2011 plates with the CAVE engine code. From May 2012 any car ordered will have the "CTHE" engine code.

This is to try and get rid of the following issues with the cars.....

The ecu upgrades
fuel pump issues (which i had)
piston rings
spark plugs etc

Might even go single turbo as per some rumours.....but i cant see it because the engine is brand new and in many more models except ours across the different vag range. I think it should be just a stronger version of our engines we have now.

Hopefully this should iron out any issues.................hopefully.

If thats the case then yeah it should have the new engine code. Be worth giving them a bell though to clarify......just call them and act dumb about the whole engine code thing, they might tell you.

Yeah cheers mate, its a great shame and the black on red works well i think.....as for getting another one.....i dont know yet to be honest. It had a few small issues but like you say they are a lovley car and go really well, nice interiors etc etc but im undecided yet. Still, i havent heard back from insurance etc so still a bit in the dark myself.

You may be the first one on here with the new code........hhhhmmmmmm

Yeah im sure ill get something sorted......wish it was an R though lol

Yeah just call them who you bought it off mate. You could say something like "im wanting to buy some lowering springs for the car when it arrives but the people im buying off want to know the chassis number" Sometimes "spring companies" ask this to check axle weights of certain cars etc.

To be fair you could ask what the f**k you want......chances are they wont know what a chassis code is if there like most other vw dealers ive dealt with..... :D
