Polo '06' 1.4 tdi (80bhp)

Hi there, folk!

This is my first post on this forum, as I have only recently purchased an '06' reg Polo 1.4 tdi (80bhp).

I have a couple of question and would appreciate your help:

* On average, over the past 3 weeks, the car returns only 45mpg, in spite of a careful driving style. Any suggestions of how this could be improved e.g. re-map?
* I am looking into the possibility of having a cruise control fitted to the car (in the interest of improving fuel economy, as well as comfort) and would benefit from your recommendations of someone trustworthy who could do it.
* In due course, the car will require servicing, repairs, etc. Any good independent garages you would suggest?

The challenge: I live just outside Perth, in Scotland. After reading quite a bit on the forum, I noticed that a good number of the folk who can either re-map, install cruise controls or service are in England. Any suggestions for folk up here who could help?
