I am going to change my DSG oil and I realised I need to have a special aparatus to do this as the gearbox dont have a filling hole, only a drain hole at the bottom.
There are also 2 seperate circuits of oil , 1 for the gears and 1 or the mechatronics unit. Are they both of the same oil? Can I drain both out easily? Whats the right part number to use?
After draining, how do I check the oil level is of the right specs?
Any inputs here or videos would be great. Thank you

Re: DSG Oil Change
Why would you want to do this??
Re: DSG Oil Change
I believe there will be a substantial amount of metal dislodge from the gears during the running in phase and I intend to replace it with new fluid rather than let it circulate with the fluid. I already changed my engine oil at 500 and 1000km.Grey_Polo wrote:Why would you want to do this??
Re: DSG Oil Change
Manufacturers put special additives in to make such oil unnecessary and even dangerous. There were the stories of Vauxhall Cavalier owners in the 1980s who blew their engines up by replacing the then new synthetic lubricant in their engines as they didn't feel happy with the long service intervals being introduced.kevinctr wrote:I believe there will be a substantial amount of metal dislodge from the gears during the running in phase and I intend to replace it with new fluid rather than let it circulate with the fluid. My 1.4 16v petrol Polo with 7-speed DSG has covered 42,000kms and had one service at 30,000 where the oil was first changed. For me the whole point of motoring today is to do nothing but drive...
Re: DSG Oil Change
Btw, I am still using back the same OEM fluid and just wanna get the initial metal shaving out from the gearbox ASAP.
What I found out is 7speed Dry clutch DSG does not use DSG oil to begin with. They are using the normal 6spd manual transmission fluid rated at 75W80 or 6.3cst. OEM part number should be
G-052-171-A2

Re: DSG Oil Change
I've got a Seat with a dsg gearbox and the service book says change the fluid at 60,000 miles or six years It's the kind of job I would entrust to a dealer or a specialist.
Re: DSG Oil Change
And I was imagining that the engine and gearbox shared the oil!
On my previous MINI I changed the oil early for similar reasons to the OP.

Kevinctr, if you want, shoot me a pm with your email address, I'll send you a copy of the gearbox manual if you like, might tell you how to refill it accurately etc.
