Re: Stage One Remap
id go with revo or apr mate never seen anyone with superchips
Re: Stage One Remap
Aren't Jabbasports maps supposed to be the best?
Re: Stage One Remap
APR/GIAC/REVO or custom map.
For me its matter of taste everyone is good.
The true faces comes if something happens with the car.
So I would choose someone that is service minded also.
I did have custom map stage 1. Stagee 2 I went with Revo.
Do some trials exchange some words. Go after your review of each company that sells the maps.

Re: Stage One Remap
Wouldn't go with jabba sport all they seem to do is turn everything up to the max to get maximum power and don't seem to care if it goes bang. I suppose they do this to look good saying they got more power than other tuners out of a standard car. I traveled to get a revo map even tho I'm 15 miles from jabba! A lad I no got his polo mapped there and his car was completely standard and they reckoned it was running 210 bhp they also turned his boost up real high. He got real bad heat soke after only a few mins. But that's only my opinion other people might find them ok!

Have a look at my review of my custom map if your interested! I am very pleased
Re: Stage One Remap
You've put me off Jabbasport. Was going to travel 1hr 15mins to them as well. Theres a revo dealer just down the road from me so I may check them out. I heard it's always better to have them mapped on a rolling road or is this a lie?
Re: Stage One Remap
I'd go revo every time, mine is revo.
My brothers and mums passats are both revo tuned and my sisters Leon fr is revo too.
All drive brilliantly.
A rolling road is ok however it's not as realistic as road testing.
I would rather have a map from a big name and have it road tested rather than a custom map from a lesser company using a rolling road.

Re: Stage One Remap
The problem with generic remaps is that you are placing a map on the car that is made for that engine in general not yours in specific, for instance a car which has covered 20,000 miles will have different tolerance levels to an engine that has covered 100,000, obviously this depends on how it has been looked after, another bonus of a custom map and rolling road session is the peace of mind you get that the car was running as it should be before someone loads a map onto yoru car and off you go.
In most cases a Dyno will be beneficial, it will show any boost leaks or problems that a lot of these 1.8t's have.
Just my viewpoint!

Re: Stage One Remap
also what makes a company a "lesser" company? just because they may not have the resources to spring huge advertising campaigns, doesnt mean they are "lesser", after all the proof is in the pudding and the reviews which each individual company recieves not the size of there outfit.

Re: Stage One Remap
I thought my local revo was a bunch of cowboys! All they did was turn the boost and fuel up to be honest, went back the next day and got my money back.
Got a custom map on mine now which was road tested and it's not the best!
Looking at R-Tech remap's as they seem to be the most rated about at the mo! Set up on rolling road with tests before and print outs after! All for £250 seem's cheap as chips to me plus i haven't found a bad word about them yet...

That sounds strange about revo. Im on revo stage 2 and its awesome.
Custom map Is always best but it have to be really good.
Ex. We here in Sweden have a company that writes the software from start to end but it costs also.
10 000 crowns about 1k Euros but it takes 2-3 days To complete.
I did stage 1 on another company for 2500 crowns 250 Euros custom map.
Was the worst ever I did on my car, they maxed out everything. Which I did not like.
Went for giac stage 1 was nice smooth boost reliability etc etc
and now I´m on revo stage 2 and soon going to order their switch also! Its just awesome!
I got what a paid for tbh!
