Cheap Mods

Post by Match »

Hi all

This is my car currently: Image

I'm a student and I have next to no money at the moment, so I was wondering what are the cheapest mods to do? The car is still under warranty. I was thinking about vinyl wrapping the whole car and/or wheels and roof. I'd also like a GTI style grill. Any pricing would be really helpful!

Thanks :-)

Could go gor a HID kit give it a cleaner look instead of that yellow tint, pressed plates. As far as the whole car wrap if you have no money id forget about that £100 for the roof only was the quite i got.

Surely they look like they've been rattle canned? Pretty confident they'd end up looking like a botched job but if you wanna save 100 beans go for it haha :)

all depends what paint you use, primer you use and how you do it, a Satan finish is easy, it a gloss finish that is hard, but can be done, but at the end of the day you get what u pay for, my lass isnt too bothered about the finish, but i was with mine thats why i had mine powdercoated lol

How do you go about fitting an exhaust tip? Plus my rear bumper doesn't have a space for an exhaust... Looks good though!

What are heko deflectors/wheel insert trims? I'll take a look at the sales thread.

Yeah I'll forget wrapping haha maybe the roof but that's it. Will get pressed plates, they look smart. Not sure how a DIY alloy respray would go but I'll look into it, I can't slam it it still has warranty!

mate mine has... HAD warranty, f**k WARRANTY, what are the chances of a brand new car braking on you, and if it does you should have the money to fix it anyway, if you have the money to buy a new car, you must have the money to keep on top of it, and fix it if it brakes

press plates for the win, i have them, and spraying alloys is the easiest job in the world, just take ya time and be careful

but ill get a pic of my lasses sprayed alloys up on my build thread when i get he chance to do them, and ill take pics on how am doing them just to give ya a hand

depends on how you wanting to do it mate

you can go for the very cheap and very unsafe option on cutting the standard springs :P lol but i would never recommend that

but it can range from about £170 to up to 6k depending on how you wanna do it and how low you wanting to go,

i am on coilovers on a 80mm drop which cost me £400 all in all, with fitting

you can go for the cheaper option of springs for about £200, but will only lower the car 40 to 50mm or something, depends on what springs

and then these air bags, which will drop the car on its frame, but from what i heard for the polo 6r, the bags are ALOT, but with bags you can lower and raise the car as you please

Live within your means and all that, but warranty is the only time that other people are actually going to pay to fix your car for you. Don't waste it, especially since if you are going to void your warranty then you're also going to void your right to any recall work that may suddenly arise. Also, as a 17 year old new driver, you are going to be absolutely crucified by your insurance if you lower it mate.
